Every kid deserves a team that will not give up on them.

Since 1987, Wolverine Human Services has helped Michigan's children and families become Victors. We run residential treatment campuses in Vassar and Detroit, license foster and adoptive families statewide, and stay with young people through the hard parts.

Two ways we show up for kids

Some young people need a safe place to reset and heal. Others need a family to come home to. Wolverine does both, and connects them when a child's path moves from one to the other.

Stabilize. Revive. Thrive.

Our work follows the shape of a young person's recovery. It is the same arc you see in our logo.

  1. Stabilize

Safety first. Assessment, crisis intervention, and a calm, structured place to land, whether that is a shelter bed on campus or a licensed foster home.

  2. Revive

Evidence-based treatment with staff trained by the Beck Institute in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, school credit recovery, family therapy, and health care, all in one place.

  3. Thrive

Permanency planning, reunification or adoption, independent living support, alumni scholarships, and a community that keeps showing up after discharge.

Nearly four decades of unconditional care

Wolverine is Michigan's largest private provider of residential services for youth, and one of the few agencies that runs a full continuum from shelter to adoption.

Victors stories

Every young person who comes through Wolverine is on their way to becoming a Victor. These are a few of them, in their families' words.

James and Heather Kilgore have fostered four children and finalized their first adoption since becoming Wolverine foster parents in July 2016. They were nominated for the 2020 Creating Hope Award.
